Ecocciwine is Spain’s first Carbon Zero-certified winery, producing a range of premium artisanal wines using sustainable methods that respect the environment. A boutique brand, it produces white, rosé and red wines from its 30-acre vineyard, bordering Les Gavarres natural park reserve, close to historic Girona in Catalonia.

We were approached by Ecocciwine to help introduce their wines to the US market and delivered a full range of services, from importation, to brand strategy and architecture, to cross-media communications and marketing, and events. We continue to provide marketing services and advise them on entering new markets.

Trade:  We surveyed importers who would be a good “fit” for Ecocciwine and appointed Barterhouse Imports as their US partner, because of their existing portfolio of boutique wineries with a focus on sustainable wines.

Strategy: We conducted research to identify key players in the marketplace, position the brand in the competitive landscape, and determine target audiences’ – consumer, press, and trade – needs. We lead workshops with Ecocciwine to understand the winery’s personality, which revealed core brand values.  The combination of market analysis, audience insights, and brand identity, enabled us to create a compelling corporate identity and brand strategy, using relevant messages to differentiate the brand from competitors.

Design: We developed Ecocciwine’s brand architecture and designed market-appropriate materials, packaging, and POS applications to visually communicate the brand, on and offline. We also developed a branded environment for events to make the brand image strong and memorable.

Communications & Representation: We created a comprehensive communications and promotional plan for Ecocciwine, involving media relations, social media, and proprietary and sponsorship-based events. We organized interviews with industry titles (Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, etc.) and sent samples to dozens of specialist journalists, leading to numerous articles and generating brand awareness.

Events: We organized various events to promote Ecocciwine in the US, including press luncheons, blogger night, in-store tastings in New York City and the brand’s participation in the Guia Peñin, The Great Match, and Barterhouse Imports events.

Management:  We delivered the project to Ecocciwine over the course of 12 months and managed the brand throughout the process to ensure consistency and cohesiveness of brand image in all markets where its wines are sold.

Representation: We acted as the winery’s outsourced marketing department for all international actions and brand management.
